Lakewood Ranch Premier Sports Campus to be Turned into County Park

Lakewood Ranch developer Schroeder-Manatee Ranch has offered for the Premier Sports Campus to be turned into a county park.
The offer consists of donating the 126.9-acre land of the sports campus in exchange for compensation for the physical improvements that have been made on the property.

These improvements consist of parking, recreational facilities and 22 fields-eight of which are equipped with lights for evening activities. The price for all of these improvements is an estimated $5.2 million which could potentially be paid through impact fee revenue.

The proposal is also contingent upon an additional 36-acre piece of land being constructed into an aquatic center and parking area within the next five years. The aquatic center would be paid for by Manatee County, but the cost for this is still being discussed.
