With 826 new home sales halfway through 2018; a 33 percent increase from last year, Lakewood Ranch flies into Second Place for the fastest-selling master planned community in the United States.
Last year, Lakewood Ranch had 622 sales through June and ranked third in the nation according to Maryland based consulting firm RCLCO.
The Villages, outside Orlando, continues to hold the No. 1 spot on the RCLCO top-selling list with 1,115 home sales through June, a 13 percent increase from the same time in 2017.
Another Florida city placed in RCLCO’s top five list this year as well. North Port’s West Villages ranked number 5 with 648 sales so far this year.
Lakewood Ranch’s rise to the top has been substantially aided by the completion of the community’s 16th phase, Waterside. This new village is located on the south side of Lakewood Ranch, bordering well-known Sarasota.
Lakewood Ranch has been doing a very good job with their market-segmentation. They have embodied small-town living with big city conveniences. They have been successfully targeting various age groups, incomes and household segments with appropriately priced inventory and a plethora of amenities.
There are more than 20 builders with over 70 model homes priced between $200,000s to over $5 million. The sales in the Ranch are coming from all throughout Florida, especially in the east from cities like Orlando, as well as northern homebuyers from New Jersey, Connecticut and the Mid-Atlantic.
The plans for Lakewood Ranch are no-where near complete yet. The Ranch has more than 4 million square feet of commercial development and entitlements for up to 14 million square feet. Around 2,600 acres gave been set aside for future developments. The future holds strong for this master-planned community!
